Dreamstone Moscato - ~$9

Fresh & Easy is starting to push some summer sippers and I believe that the Dreamstone Moscato is one of them. This is an Australian wine, made from Frontignac grapes, which are Australia’s version of the remarkably profligate Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grape.  Indeed, you can find a Muscat wine from just about every wine-producing country in the world

It does have a bit of the characteristic ripe, musky Muscat style on end of the palate. More obvious, though, are the three Ps characteristic of this sort of wine: peach, papaya, and passion fruit.  This wine is lightly carbonated and rather refreshing when well-chilled.  The low alcohol level (8.5% ABV) makes it attractive as a sipper, but the sweetness on the finish does get a bit cloying after a while.

A nice summer drink, but perhaps best paired with dessert – say, strawberry shortcake with fresh whipped cream.

  1. I love this sparkling wine! I white is very good but I especially like the pink rose. Its a great wine for a special ocassion/party or for a quiet dinner at home. Its very refreshing and light. I love when its on sale for $4.99 and dislike when its full price at $8.99. When its on sale I stock up like crazy and its nice that is you buy 6 or more you get 10% off. I would definately recommend trying it!
